Celebrating Christmas in Lambeth

Lambeth's Conservatives are celebrating Christmas in traditional style after politically correct officers tried to abolish it last year. The loopy Left renamed the Christmas lights as 'Winter lights' (but not in Norwood, where Conservatives dominate and do not allow such nonsense).

This year Labour failed to order the borough's Christmas trees on time or bother organising carol singing at the switch on ceremonies, and the vast majority of the Labour Group even failed to turn up at the Mayor's Christmas drinks party.

Conservative councillors believe the Council should celebrate Christmas along with residents of the borough. We were responsible for the 'Happy Christmas' banner hanging from the Town Hall clock tower. And the Conservatives are sending out proper Christmas cards (in contrast to one hapless local Labour MP, who used

taxpayers' money to send cards that hid the Christmas story).

Unlike the Bah Humbug attitude of the Labour Party, local residents can join with the Conservatives and enjoy a little more Christmas cheer in 2006.

John Whelan, Conservative Group Leader said: "People expect their councillors to enter into the Christmas spirit and they rightly get annoyed by PC posturing over renaming Christmas. The Left were guilty of that last year and we oppose it all the way. On behalf of all Conservative Councillors I would like to wish everybody in the borough and Merry Christmas a happy new year."
